  • Meet like-minded people: Connect with others who share your interest in jewellery making.

This workshop is designed to be accessible and enjoyable, with all materials and tools provided. You don’t need prior experience, just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

Booking Deadline and Limited Availability

The workshop date is set for July 18, 2026, but the booking deadline is approaching fast - 6pm on 10 July. After the deadline, no more places will be available. This is because we keep group sizes small to ensure quality instruction and personal attention.

To avoid disappointment:

Booking early also helps us prepare materials and tailor the session to the group’s needs.

Understanding the Price Increase

You might have noticed that the workshop price has increased compared to last year. This change is due to the rising cost of silver, which affects the materials we use.

In a recent blog post, we explained how the price of silver has gone up significantly over the past year. This increase means:

  • The silver used in your ring is more valuable.

  • The final piece you create will have a higher intrinsic worth.

  • We can maintain the quality of materials and tools provided.

While the price is higher, the value you receive also grows. You are not just paying for a workshop but investing in a piece of jewellery that holds real silver content and craftsmanship.

What You Will Learn During the Workshop

The workshop covers essential skills and techniques that form the foundation of silver ring making:

  • Measuring and sizing: Ensuring your ring fits perfectly.

  • Cutting and texturing silver: Using aluminium or copper to experiment, choosing a texturing hammer then texturing your silver

  • Soldering: Joining silver pieces with precision.

  • Shaping, polishing and finishing: Shaping and polishing your ring to give it a professional shine.

Each step is demonstrated clearly, and you will have plenty of time to practice under guidance.

This workshop suits a wide range of people and is suitable for those aged 16+:

  • Beginners curious about jewellery making.

Where Is The Workshop Being Held?

We use a range of venues across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire in order to make our workshops as accessible as possible (see below). The workshop on 18 July is being held at Barthol Chaoel Community Hub, near Inverurie. For this particular workshop, we are partnering with the Hub's trustees, and 50% of profits from the workshop will go directly to the Hub. So as well as creating a unique, beautiful piece of jewellery, you will also get the warm glow from knowing you are helping to raise funds for a good cause.

What if I Can't Make That Date or Location?

We also have other dates and venues lined up. All of the details can be found at https://www.tawbis.com/events1.
